Handweaving services

In 2013 Legacy Lane acquired a large AVL loom. This makes it possible for us to offer you, our client, handweaving services. Our new loom has the ability to create cloth up to 70" wide, affording you the opportunity to have a variety of woven products created. Our weaving is done on-site by two experienced handweavers. Products offered include, but are not limited to, shawls, scarves, rugs, throws, blankets and ponchos. Our rug weaving services offer you a cost-effective way to use your seconds fiber to create luxurious one-of-a-kind alpaca rugs. • Fiber must be a minimum staple length of 2 inches

  • Fiber must be well skirted and free from excessive vegetation and matted sections

  • If possible, fiber should be tumbled and guard hairs removed

  • The more crimp in the fiber the less loss at the carder

  • Wrapped around a jute core, our rug yarn bumps are made in either 75 yard or 150 yard lengths, which weigh approximately 25/50 ounces

  • It takes approximately 4 pounds of unwashed fiber to make 1 rug bump of 150 yds

  • One rug yarn bump of 150 yards can make a 3' x 4' rug depending on how tightly it is woven

"Just wanted to say "thank you" for the wonderful scarves and shawls I received today! I think they are absolutely gorgeous, even more than the ones I got last year. I just love the darker colours and the weaving patterns you used this year. I think they will be great sellers! In fact, I already have two of the shawls spoken for, so I am sure the ladies are going to have a hard time choosing."
